BBT Analysis

Basal body temperature charting is a method of determining when a woman is actually ovulating. Using a digital thermometer ( a basal body temperature model) temperature is taken orally each morning before rising and is recorded on a graph. It must be done at the same time in order for it to be accurate.

A pattern will develop after several graphs which would show body temperature rises of 32 to 32.9 degrees Fahrenheit after ovulation. There is controversy over this method as to its accuracy, since ovulation has already occurred with the temperature rise, and some women do not necessarily show these distinct differences in temperature, yet they are still ovulating.

There are certain rules in order to have an accurate graph. The first day of your basal body temperature graph is on the first day of the menstrual cycle and temperature should be recorded throughout the period. Mark the actual day of the month, and use only a digital basal body temperature thermometer. As noted above, take your temperature every morning before rising and do not eat, drink or smoke before recording.

All of these procedures may seem complicated and confusing, but PHDTOGO will allow you to do all of these procedures with accuracy and keep a precise chart and graph which will be invaluable to you and your physician.
